Physical Sciences at Boston College?

Hello,
I’m considering applying to Boston College and am hoping to major somewhere in the physical sciences. This is a bit general, but does anyone know what the quality of these programs is at BC? Also, if anyone knows specifically about their geology program (quality of education, field work/research experience, etc) that would be really helpful!

Like all mid-sized Unis, BC does the basic sciences just fine. But any college with an Engineering program will tend to be stronger in physical sciences. Dunno much about geology specifically. Not surprisingly, some of the strongest geo programs are in colleges with strong ChemE programs, particularly oil and gas. Think Tulsa, Oklahoma, Texas…

Thanks, that helps to reassure me a little. And thanks for the advice on the other schools as well, I’ll be sure to look into those next!

The faculty for geology is pretty strong. One example is Rudolph Hon, PhD from MIT and very reputable throughout Boston.
