Physics 211 is kicking my ass, help please...

I never really took physics in high school, and I just took my first exam and bombed it. I have 2 more mid terms after this one and a final. I need study tips, I have a tutor, and am planning on going to weekly reviews now for the class, but I dont want to bomb another midterm or Im done for. A lot of people are saying to use Khan Academy, I tried that for the first midterm and the videos didn’t cover much in terms of what we are learning, just the basics. any tips would be appreciated.

Are you doing all of the homework? Redoing it before the exam? Doing extra problems where available?

You can always take 211 in the summer. If you live in PA most campuses have 211 during the summer. Some branches offer 211 and 212. You can even take it at a community college. Make sure you use the transfer tool on PS website. As long as it is a direct equivalent you can transfer the credit to PS. It will not be calculated into your GPA.

@bodangles I did at first, then I slacked off a little, I found the mastering physics homework isn’t accurate of the exam though, so I didn’t do as much as I neared the exam. Im planning on focusing more on the homework now though.

@dor123 I dont live in PA, and I do not really want to drop the class yet since I want to stay on track for my academic plan.

Even if it’s not completely like the exam, it’ll help you understand the concepts, so you can apply the knowledge to the different types of problems on the exam. When 212 rolled around and they gave us 80+ practice problems for the exam, I did all of them.

(I do not have that kind of time or determination anymore. But you should, you’re a freshman. :P)

dor123’s advice is good to keep in mind as a backup. Almost everywhere will have introductory physics classes. If worst comes to worst, you can take it at your local community college over the summer.

@thatdude2020 Try lion tutors. My son swears by it. He really believes it’s the only way he ended up with a 3.9 gpa for his first semester. Although, he did not take physics 211 so not sure about that particular class. http://penn.liontutors.com/classes/phys-211
