Physics 7A/7B with Math 53 and 54...premed?!?!?

Ok so I spent my first year doing premed courses…chem 1a, chem 3a/3al and math 1a/1b…I basically only need 3b/3bl and bio1a/1b to be done with the prereqs…should I continue doing them?

However, the thing is…I want to major in Astrophysics…I know it sounds crazy and dumb to do these two.
I’m taking physics 7a and math 53 over the summer.

Fall 2010 I’m taking 7b and math 54 and astro 84 (1 unit seminar)…but I’m not sure whether I should take chem 3b along with these two cutthroat courses.
It’s either chem 3b…or Astro 7a (basically another physics course)

I’ve heard a lot about chem 3b…I think my chem 3a foundation is pretty good…but does anyone know about Astro 7A?

Is this a stupid (or rather, a surefire) way to kill myself?

I really do love astronomy, but in case I don’t have an alternative…I’m thinking of doing the premed prereq’s.

Yay! 84 buddy!

Err. How did you do in Chem 3A/3AL? How good is your physics?

Physics 7B
Math 54

I don’t know your background. If you have taken Physics C E&M and got a 5, you should be fine. If not, err…pay attention in 53 because it will help conceptually in 7B. Astro 7A, I haven’t taken the class. But I’ve listened to some of the audio podcast awhile ago. The first 10 lectures didn’t seem too bad. 54 is also a little tough because linear algebra is a new mathematics branch. So it will take some time if you haven’t encounter it before. I wouldn’t recommend 3B/3BL with this schedule not because I think you can’t handle it…but because you are premed and your GPA actually matters.

I think you should stick with (Fall)

7B, 54, Astro 7A, 84 (13 units)

Also, Volldhart is teaching 3B…so it’s not that exciting. Maybe, just maybe, someone else better will teach that class in Spring. Now if you do choose to take 3B, I might see you. Hehe.

Anyhow, see you in Astro 84!
