Physics / Math Professors

Can anyone recommend physics or math professors to see at Harvard when we go for the pre-frosh days next weekend? At Williams we were able to sit down with several who were very informative about their programs and gave us a feeling for how they would interact with students. Thank you!

Leverett House Master (lives with undergrads) and teaches Physics 16 - the advanced intro class. Super friendly + would be a great person to set up a meeting with.

The physics undergraduate advisors are both very happy to talk to pre-frosh and have been helpful for my D:

I don’t have experience with Math advising, but per the department website:

Director of Undergraduate Studies
The director of Undergraduate Studies is Peter Kronheimer. At Harvard, directors of Undergraduate Studies are often called “Head Tutors”. For questions about concentration in Mathematics, contact the undergraduate student coordinator Cindy Jiminez.[Harvard Mathematics Department : Cindy Jiminez](http://www.math.harvard.edu/people/JiminezCindy.html)

Which math or physics professors should I see at Harvard that are on the admissions committee? I want to talk to them to know what they look for in future math or physics majors that apply to Harvard.

@ForHarvard - None sit on the committee, but some may get forwarded applications if, for example, the admissions committee wants an evaluation of a research paper that was attached to an app.

Also, chill out. You could easily **** off someone important with your quest for the “FORMULA FOR ADMISSION.”

Do the things that you like extremely well, and if you get into Harvard - awesome. If you don’t, well you’ll be happy and many other great schools will certainly take you.

I agree with justforgetme- meeting with professors is a great way to learn about opportunities in math and physics at Harvard and beyond, but they are not in charge of undergraduate admission, and if you talk to them too much about admission you will likely alienate them.
