Physics question!!!

Reviewing physics, and it’s bothering me SO much that I can’t figure out this problem? Who can help me?

Two cats are preparing to test their new safety helmets by running at each other and crashing. Jasmine is located 6.78 meters from the cat box and Belle is located -4.18 meters on the opposite side of the cat box. Jasmine runs with a velocity of -3.74 m/s and Belle runs with a velocity of 7.99 m/s towards Jasmine. (They are both running towards the cat box.) With respect to the cat box, where will they be when they collide?

Would you prefer to solve the problem with algrebra or coordinate geometry?

algebra! thanks!

What have you tried so far?

xJ=6.78 - 3.74T
xB=-4.18 + 7.99T

They meet when xJ=xB, or 10.96=11.73T. Solve for T and substitute that value in the equation for xJ.
