physics

is simply taking physics 1honors going to cover the material needed for sat2, or is physicsAP more suited for it?

my physics course last year covered less than half of the stuff…and my ap physics course this year goes wayyy deeper than anything on the test

i doubt that helped any…but i read studied on my own and im satisfied with my score

What books did you study with?

And what did your physics course cover last year?

Oh and what score did you get? :)

eh i dont want to help my competitors so i cant tell u what book(s) i used :(

didnt cover a lot last year just mechanics basically

780  i was a pretty determined dude

Use Princeton Review, and if you have time, try the hard questions in Barron’s.
Oh and uh, dude08, that is the lamest thing I have ever heard, this i the first negative thing I am saying to anybody on CC but, please, competitors? Pshh

what crawled up ur butt?

^ I’d ask you the same question. This is a site to help other people with this sort of stuff. Not to brag about your score and not give any help as to how you got it.

you

Second the above post

ok he asked me what score i got and i told him…how am i bragging? u sir do not have any logic

yes this site is for advice, but it is up to me to decide how much advice i choose to give…all i basically did was tell him it that if he was dedicated, it is still possible to get a 780 by self studying even if all u have learned thus far is basic mechanics and not to study AP physics for the test<—super helpful advice

i did not tell him what book(s) i used…but then again it is up to me whether or not i wish to disclose that information, i am not obligated to tell ANYbody ANYthing, nobody told me what book to use i had to find out on my own so if i feel like i dont want to tell him…guess what i dont have to!

i have already given him a slight advantage over what i had before i took the test simply by telling him that self study can get u a 780…i had to hope for the best with no assurance that i could do well…i also saved him time by steering him clear of studying the rigorous AP physics that i feared might be on the exam

in conclusion…if u dont want my advice dont take it…i am not in ANY way obligated to help u in the slightest bit, if i opt to do so u should be thankful and not mad that i am not walking u through every single step

True, but,

Seeing him/her as a direct competition, its not like you’re both apply to the same college with the same stats, except that Physics score. I remember people who would not tell others what vocab list they used for the SAT until their test date was over. Come on, you;re one student out of many many others. So don’t be so threatened that you’re hesitant to help.

Yes I know its not obligatory on you, but, thanks for the help you have given.

to dude08: If you didn’t want to say which books you didn’t use, why did you even answer that question?

Anyway, to other people who wish to help me, I’m thinking of taking the physics sat 2 on Jan 26. I am in AP Physics C right now, and I had a pretty bad regular physics class last year, in which material was not thoroughly taught. Is a weekend of going through the lessons in Princteon and then 2 practice tests enough for at least a 750?

um…what?

I too covered only mechanics in high school, studied by myself and scored 760. Not bad I think.

And there’s no way in hell I’m going to tell you what books I used.

On second thought, I’m not a mule or any of its synonyms.

I first read Sparknotes, then Kaplan’s book, and finally PR’s.
From what I’ve heard, if you’ve already covered the subjects and are a good student, PR’s book should suffice. If you want to go even deeper, read PR and then do Barron’s, which I’ve heard is harder than the real test and will over prepare you, a good thing if you’re aiming 750 or higher. And always have Sparknotes in mind, 'cause it’s free.

If you’re only going to buy one book, go with PR.

And dude08, grow up please. I know you’re in no obligation to disclose the vital information you possess regarding the future of the human race, but are you seriously so egocentric and near-sighted that you think saying the names of a couple of books will “help your competition” and signify your doom and the cataclysm of the galaxy?
Really, you’re awesome!

Archrival: it’s impossible for any of us to answer you. It depends on how good you understand physics concepts and how used you are to the type of SAT II Physics questions.

I’d suggest you do the Sparknotes free tests, and see how you’re doing. Create an account and take one test free. Then create another account and take the second test free. Create a third account and take the last test free. Unless you prefer paying up.

oh boo hoo so i didnt walk these people through every step get over it…i like how u named every single famous testing review company (sparknotes, kaplan, pr, and barrons) too

and im not going to call u a mule or any one of its synonyms (i guess im just not as witty and sharp as u) or sarcastically exaggerate what uve said to try and roast u (once again i am not that cunning)

u sir have won the argument by making me look like an idiot i guess people just cant appreciate good advice and guidance anymore they need everything handed to them because as we all know u cant get over a 750 without using the exact same book dude08 used…its the “i have to use the exact same book as dude08 to get over a 750” rule :)

Dude, you’re missing the point.

Would it kill you to be nice?
And honestly, do you think that sharing your SAT II Physics experience will “help your competitors” and thus diminish your chances to gain admission into wherever you’re planning to apply?

If you do, no sarcasm intended, you’re really not sharp nor cunning.

yeah i missed the point i guess i was distracted by those clever insults u were throwing at me

and i am not sharp or cunning at least not as much as u its the “u cant be as sharp as danielcarp” rule and i would never want to test that rule

lastly there are about 220 views and 15 responses, equaling about 200 people who never responded to this thread…only two types of people would ever click on this thread people who can help and people who need help…let’s split it 50-50 or 25-75 for ur benefit…that means there were 50 people who knew the answer to the ops question but didnt answer because they did not want to (probably because they did not want to help their competitors…any other ideas?) so i guess that makes all 50 of them mules…since i only answered 2 out of 3 questions i am 1/3 a mule…and u sir are the only human…

ur logic is laughable <—try saying that 50 times fast lol  its hard

i was being nice by giving advice twice lol but i guess once again it would have been better to keep my mouth shut like the other 50 people who could have helped but didnt because if i dont help the person with every bit of info then i am a meanie while the other 50 people who offered no advice are not

But your logic is not laughable, it’s silly !
It really is.

Why don’t you take a look at the other threads and see how, obviously, the number of views is much bigger than the number of posts.
Don’t you count curious people? I mean, that is how you enter a thread, you’re curious about the title. That doesn’t mean you will post.

If you’ve already checked, how do you explain the enormous disparity between views and posts? Would you say that CC is full of mules and their relatives? I don’t think so. In this web page, I’ve found plenty of advice. This is actually the first time I’ve written a “negative” post.

will ap physics B be sufficient to take the SAT2 physics exam?

no u r the one saying cc is full of mules that is why i said ur logic was laughable…so let me get this straight ur theory is that we are the only two people (well one other guy also) that visited this thread with the 200+ views that had taken the test and had advice to offer…

gotcha  i guess u win then

but of course with the “u cant be as sharp as danielcarp” rule i shouldve been expecting it

ivyleauge104 ur on my side right  lol no seriously the stuff im studying in ap physics is wayyy harder than ANYthing on the test…u just need to know the basics of each chapter
