physics240 without calc2

Hi everyone. Currently I’m taking calc2 and we are using integrals fairly regularly. I haven’t taken calc 2 yet and I’m having some trouble with the integrals because I haven’t used them in awhile.

I don’t mind this class, I find it quite interesting. However, if I’m having trouble remembering how to do the integrals should i drop it and take it after calc2? Calc2 is not required, just advised. Do the integrals in 240 become very difficult or should I be able to do them once I refresh my memory (we touched on integrals towards the end of calc1)? Thanks.

the integrals are usually simple so calc 1 should be fine. But there are times when you have to use some calc 3 integrals to integrate some problems in HW, rarely in exams however.
the integrals wont make phys240 a nightmare, not understanding the concepts will.

Thanks a lot square. If anyone has anything else they’d like to add I’d appreciate it.

Also, I meant to say I’m taking phys240, not calc 2, in second sentence but I think the title makes up for it.

From what I understand from my physics professor, you only have to know how to integrate trig functions, polynomials, and exponential. You can look up other integrals in the book. You should probably be familiar with vectors too (which you learn about the first week of calc 3), but I’m guessing that most people already learned about vectors in high school.
