Piano program at Meadowmount?

My D was accepted into Meadowmount’s piano program this summer. The program accepts only 6 pianists. It’s so small and relatively new that I’m having a hard time finding out much information about it. Does anyone know what it’s like to be a piano student at Meadowmount?

How old is your daugher, Cccookie? Meadowmount is a rite of passage for string students, and from what I have been told, the experience is the same for piano students. It is a very controlled environment, with especially strict regulations for those under age at the time of arrival. Everyone accomplishes a lot, but some thrive, and others do battle with the system.

She is sixteen.

If your daughter is disciplined, and if she does not mind restrictions on what she will do when, Meadowmount is a terrific opportunity to study, practice, meet musicians from everywhere. Traditionally, musicians are woken up and then all but locked into their room or studio from early morning until lunch time. After that there are ensemble rehearsals, lessons, master classes, and more time practicing. It will be a helpful orientation as she plans her college applications, getting to know players from the top schools and conservatories. There are no creature comforts, but she will treasure the experience and rite of passage forever.
