Pick Which Topic WOuld Work Best

<p>Ok these are the two essay topics i want to use for the comon app. Which one would seem better?</p>

<li><p>Discuss transfer to a prestigious high school after freshemn year at a normal h.s. I would use this essay to justify why my grades dropped by almost 10 percent (school grades out of 100 percent… no GPA or A B C) And how after a bad year during sophmore year, i shot my grades up drastically by about 12 percent because it was harder adjusting to a competitive school.</p></li>
<li><p>Magic. Starting Freshmen year I became deeply attracted to magic, illusions. Mainly street magic, I practiced day and night. I would perform as a street magician frequently for fun. This basically boosted my confidence and helped me realize that when people enjoy and appreciate what i do, I have this immense feeling that really gives me joy. It taught me not only sleight of hand but that true happiness comes from serving society to their content.</p></li>

<p>Imo #1 would not be a suitable essay topic. If there is a need to discuss this matter, it should imo be done as a supplementary statement or, preferably, in your GC’s letter. A simple statement by your GC such as “GetMeIn03, like most of our transfer students, took some time to adjust to the more rigorous environment here at Prestige Prep. Since then, his work has been uniformly stellar.” would address this problem imo.</p>

<p>Your topic imo should allow for a personal, detailed, honest and revealing essay. Topic #2 appears to allow for that.</p>

<p>Do you want to present yourself as one of thousands, hundreds of thousands whose grades suffered for some reason, or do you want to present yourself as one of the very few who have a passion and talent for magic?</p>

<p>i prefer the #2… yes, i agree with ADad. #1 shouldn’t be in the short answer. If you wanna explain it, you’d better put it in your Additional Info.</p>

<p>The only magicians I ever known were really quite lame and did it to make people give them attention, not because they really loved it as a passion - please go with #2 :D</p>
