Picking Minors and Majors

<p>I am having trouble finding a Major and/or Minors. The areas of study I am looking for are study of different cultures (if you have seen the show “Bones” I would like to know about the ancient and current cultures and about their languages but have no interest in studying bones or anything for a living) for a major. As far as minors go I want to study dream theory, psychology, and journalism…the even harder task is i need to find a college where I can depend only on their online programs. Any and all advice would be grateful as I have no counselor or anything to help guide me</p>

<p>well, there’s a field called anthropology that deals with ancient and modern cultures. yes, there is a subfield that studies bones, but that’s just one part of anthropology. there is its neighbor, linguistics, which often studies the languages of different cultures. psychology is sometimes a third related field of study, such that some people study the interconnectedness of these three fields. Dream theory is a bit passé these days; most researchers have accepted a material explanation for dreams, and so you may find some of them working in neuroscience. Some might say that journalism is not unlike dreaming in that both are attempts to make sense of what might otherwise be random (neural) events, to tell stories that attempt to make sense of experience, often in highly patterned ways, not unlike myths.</p>

<p>As far as online programs, I’m clueless. Certainly if you’re interested in dream theory you don’t need to go to college to read the history of that field. There’s plenty of laymen explanations of what purpose dreams serve. Most of the earlier ones have little to do with reality.</p>

<p>There’s a field called Cultural Studies. It could combine all your areas of interest. (No idea about any online degree program in Cultural Studies, though.) You might want to explore it as an option: </p>
