Instead of volunteering in many clubs, is having a pilots license show enough leadership and skill for west point?

How does having a pilot’s license show leadership?

That’s definitely not enough.

“That’s definitely not enough.”
Really?
Moritsuna- The truth is that anything can be spun to show that you have what they are looking for. They are looking for candidates and future officers who have demonstrable leadership skills - which are not as black and white as the response above indicates. Leadership includes motivation, persistence, excelllence. So- perhaps getting your private pilot’s license might show a lot of that. Think about - How old were you when you got your license compared to the average age of new pilot? How long did it take you to get a license? How did you pay for it? What else were you doing while you were getting the license? Why did you get it?
Is it different than what they would expect to see? yes - is that the sole discriminator? No- Can you make this appear to be a major accomplishment? I bet you can if you think about how you present it. If you still have time to get involved in something additionally- you should- but if not- make the most of a pretty interesting accomplishment.

Both keydet and Triggs make good points - it isn’t just a pilots license per se that will give you an “edge”. It is how you got it and what you do with it. That pertains to anything really, not just a pilot’s license.
