Pinterest question

It seems that the time has come for me to join the herd over at Pinterest. I got an invitation, but it seems that I must sign up via facebook. I do not want to do this. Is there a way to join pinterest without going through facebook?

Well, first of all, you can use Facebook to sign up but then once you’re signed up, you can choose to “unlink” or something like that from FB - so it doesn’t list all your Pinterest activity on FB. (I’ll have to go to Pinterest to see what exactly you click to unlink)

You can also sign up through Twitter. If you don’t have a twitter account, you could make one - and never do anything on it if you prefer - then, do the same thing - unlink when you’re set up on Pinterest.

Ok, once you set up your Pinterest account, under your name/pic (upper right hand corner of page) scroll down to “settings”. Scroll down settings to Facebook/Twitter (which ever one you sign up with) and click the “on” to “off” - then nothing will show up on your FB/Twitter page.

Lately, I’m liking Pinterest more than FB!

I signed up without FB. I believe the login screen offers FB as an option. But, “regular” sign-up is available, lower on the page.

I am trying to sign up for Pinterest too. When I click on the email invitation link, it looks like I have to join through facebook or twitter. If I join through Facebook, it say that it will automatically update me to the new Facebook timeline. I don’t wanna!

^^^ That was why I went through Twitter…

You can delete it, and request that all future updates not be put on fb. It’s a onetime delete/request you make on your timeline.

Thank you all for the feedback!

Thank you! Joined through twitter!

I made a Tweeter account for my dog, and joined through his account.

I have a pinterest account and have a decorating board for my living room started. I have found a picture on line of a similar “look” and feel that I want. I know that the pinterest policy is that you are supposed to credit photos pinned, how do I do this? The picture I like is from a website of a person who has a decorating blog and refinishes/sells furniture. Although this photo is on her website it is actually HER living room. So is it creepy for me to pin that?

Can someone explain Pinterest to me? I just don’t get it. What’s the purpose?

If you do not spend enough time on your computer, it is a way to increase it.

Lol! Guess I’d better not check into it then.

No, it is fun, check it out. Like Michael Scott said, “When I first discovered youtube, I did no work for four days”.

+1 Cottonwood.

SM- it’s an online bulletin board where you can ‘pin’ images of things you want to save. If you have a wedding in the family it is a great way for the bride to pin images of her party vision or for bridesmaids to pin potential dresses.

You could pin things for future decorating or pin recipes, or like some people do, just pin pretty things that make you smile.

When you pin something and some one else repins or likes it, you are notified, I made the mistake of viewing each of those people’s pin boards for a few weeks. Then I just stopped cold turkey as it was a real time sink.

I never made it past reading the first page scroll. It is like a collage of everything your brain deletes while you are sleeping.

Fall girl, have you downloaded the “Pin It” button? When you are n a web page that you want to pin from you click your “Pin It” button and a selection of pics will come up - choose the one you want and then the screen will come up where you will choose what board you want it on of yours. Once it’s pinned, the link to the original page will be there.

Is that what you mean?

I still love Pinterest! I visit it once or twice a day at the most and just spend a few minutes scrolling on my home page and the “popular” page. I have found and tried new recipes, made boards dedicated to some ideas for my job, ideas for a planned kitchen and cottage redo, and made a board of places to visit on a trip we plan to take next year.

Thanks, abasket. I do have the Pin It button on my browser bar, but I was wondering if I also need to credit the picture in any other way, or is the link to the source sufficient?
