Princeton Review ranks Pitt this year as 11th in the country for Quality of Life. But the Fiske Guide to Colleges gives Pitt two stars out of five for Q of L. Do you have any idea about what causes such wildly differing assessments of the campus culture?

Princeton Review ratings are based on surveys of students and are updated every year. Fiske Guide ratings are based in large part on the authors’ opinions and do not appear to change significantly from year to year (or decade to decade).

Princeton Review’s ranking methodology is discussed right on its website. Fiske’s methodology? From what I can tell it is one of the more worthless ranking guides, but really, you shouldn’t rely on either. Visit and decide for yourself, because any school can be perceived quite differently from one student to the next.
