pitt vs mcgill

I sent my enrollment fee to pitt but was just taken off mcgills waiting list. i want to double major in int. studies (or something of the sort) with a focus in the middle east and religious studies. i have no idea what to do now. im visiting mcgill next week so i’ll have to see…but omg…any input from CC would be greatly appreciated.

I am not really familiar with this particular area, but McGill does have an international development program (not focussed on the middle east), a middle east studies program and various religious studies program (my brother who did philosophy almost ended up switching to Islamic studies). So do inquire during your visit, I’m sure you’ll find something that suits your interests.

Middle East Studies Program: (Quite good, if you ask me)
[Middle East Studies Program](http://www.mcgill.ca/mes/)

Study Abroad opportunities: (Israel and Turkey are listed)
[Partner institutions](http://www.mcgill.ca/students/international/studyabroad/partners/)

The usual thing to say is that you can’t get any better international experience than Mcgill, but I also checked Pittsburgh and it seems they have a quite respectable Center for International Studies (more so the East Asian department though).

I’m sure your visit to Montreal will make things extremely easier ;)

+1

on a dumb side note regarding the phrase “extremely easier”. i didnt think anything could be simultaneously both absolute and relative… nevertheless its true.

definitely mcgill for intl relations since its in ANOTHER country…i dont think the city of pittsburgh has a lot going on

I would like to add that the Middle East / Islamic Studies institute at McGill is excellent, and world class.

The main lecturer for Arabic courses is actually featured in the Al-Kitaab textbook by Georgetown et al which is the standard used throughout North America for Arabic language instruction.

I highly recommend McGill for this field.

You are * absolutely * right.
I actually find it really interesting and hadn’t realized it indeed made no sense.
I need to review my ACT prep book more often xDDD

How are Mcgill and Pitt’s International Studies programs? Both of them have no International Studies major, but yet you guys are saying they are both really good, especially Mcgill. I’m more interested in Europe, so how are their programs their? And Ledzepolle, what would you major in (or i guess your already in college by now so what did you choose)?
