Yes, very sad indeed :frowning: DS really enjoyed his physics’ class.

Very sorry to hear this. I was always impressed by his sincerity.

Thank you for the link. My daughter had called last night with this sad news. I was on campus before spring break and we were heading back to the car. My daughter said, “That looks like Doc” walking up the hill in front of us. So we stopped and said hello. He was heading to a play that Friday evening. I am sad that my daughter knew him less than a year, but happy that he had made such an impression on her and had time to talk to her many times since she started at Pitt in the fall.

Such sad news–I’m very sorry to hear this. :frowning: We just arrived in Pittsburgh to attend Honors Day tomorrow. When D and I visited Pitt one year ago, it was Dr. Stewart’s presentation at the Honors College information session that was the highlight of our visit for D. His eloquence and sincerity truly impressed us.

It is a huge loss for Pitt. He certainly attracted lots of qualified kids to Pitt via the Honors College. I wonder who will be taking over now?

I almost cried when I read this…the guy was something incredible.

My D1 and I toured Pitt last fall. We were both so impressed by Dr. Stewart. I agree, such a loss for Pitt.

people are saying that UHC should be renamed after Doc Stewart. There’s a Facebook group and a petition if you want to sign it, they’re trying to get 1000 people on the petition.

Just wanted to post this account of the memorial service. It gives such a good portrait of Doc Stewart, the man and scholar, and his out-of-the-box way of thinking.
