Weapon of choice, not a gun but a knife. 20 injured several critically. So, so disturbing and upsetting.

Prayers for all. <3

Local media has been on the air all morning with speculation, guessing, etc from Twitter accounts. Was apparently a sophomore student responsible. Yes, it is disturbing and sad.

<a href=“Male in custody after 4 people stabbed in uptown Toronto office | CTV News”>http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/man-in-police-custody-after-4-co-workers-stabbed-in-toronto-office-1.1767944

And stabbings in Toronto.

My first thought was some Internet worldwide stabbing pact…it’s pathetic that that even entered my thoughts.

I’m glad he didn’t have a gun.

I go to a neighboring school district. Very scary. :(

When I looked at my online newspaper’s main page this morning, I swear there were three or four “stabbing” titles. I hadn’t seached for stabbings. I was just looking at the news. Now, when I look, they are gone. I don’t think our newspaper is savy enough to see a link and remove them. I hope it was just coincidental.

I just looked this up. What on earth happened there? Is this an Adam Lanza with a knife? Early comments and indications are that this is not a kid that one would suspect would do this.

I’m still in shock here. The school is 10 minutes from home and all three of mine graduated there. I don’t think the issue of safety ever crossed our minds with this school. Just goes to show anything can happen anywhere.

Here’s a local account of the incident with more info.

<a href=“22 injured in knife attack at Franklin Regional High School | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette”>22 injured in knife attack at Franklin Regional High School | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette;

Well, we now have the answer to those who say regulating gun ownership is pointless because nuts will just use knives–yeah they will, but no one will be dead, including the perpetrator.

No one will be dead? Five people were killed in a knife attack in China last month. Guns are deadlier, sure, but knives are deadly as well.

The point is that guns are deadlier.

If that young man had walked into the school with two guns, both barrels ready to go like Adam Lanza did, there would a lot more people hurt and probably dead. He would have mowed down a lot of people. Even with knives, he managed to stab the police officer and it took a long of people to subdue him. Highly unlikely they would have gotten near him if he’d had guns.

Knives are everywhere, as are certain tools and other things that could be used as weapons. It’s just that guns are instantaneous in the damages.

Any idea what the story is with this young man?

Typical story. Quiet loner kid with no friends. There was some speculation about acne medication causing psychosis this morning on the news. But, that was speculation. None of the students interviewed knew him well. One girl said his brother was nice.

@Lergnom Thanks, that was helpful.

Several years ago, in a friend’s town a Mom just snapped and brutally stabbed her two kids while the dad was at work. One died, one survived. Sometimes people just snap. The scary thing is, this post got me thinking about that incident, but I couldn’t remember the woman’s name. I googled 'Michigan mother stabs children" and instantly 10 pages of results showed up. It is some world we live in.

Yup, we just had a stabbing at a kid’s sleepover. A 13-year old stabbed her friend and her 11-year old sister before stabbing herself. Two of them are in critical condition. Unbelievable.
