I enrolled for a Pittstart session, but I was wondering about choosing my classes. Am I supposed to know which classes I need/want to be taking first semester or will my advisor know? I don’t really know any info about the classes.

Last year, students were instructed to pick 10 courses that they would intend to take their freshman year. There is some info at this link. [Freshman Orientation: Choices 2012 | How to Use the “Choices” Form](http://www.asundergrad.pitt.edu/advising/choices/how-to-use-choices-form.html)

What major are you intending to study, or are you undecided?

Thanks! I’ll look over the website. I’m a General Business Management major. I looked on the business site, but it just gives an overview of the business credits needed and the other types of courses needed. It didn’t really help with deciding what to take this year or what I should do first.

First- you want to make sure that you check over what placement tests you may need to take prior to pitt start. [PittStart: Business Administration Placement Exams](http://www.pittstart.pitt.edu/freshmen_exam_cba.aspx)

the Pitt Start guide for business majors says they will email you information about schedule planning:

“Academic Advising
Further important details about PittStart, including the College of Business Administration Fall Schedule Planning Guide and our best estimate of the time you will be registered, ready to check-out of the PittStart session and return home, will be emailed to students about one week prior to their scheduled PittStarts. Please review this information carefully.”

When my daughter went to PittStart three years ago, it was if her advisor was personally selected for her even though I know she wasn’t. The advisors are very helpful.

You should have ideas in mind but if you’re in a specific program like that it should be easier. But either way you meet with your advisor before you schedule and they help you finalize your list, and at leats in my experience I’ve had great advisors

Thanks for all the help!
