Pitzer, Scripps, DU, and Babson... Help me decide?

Hi! I have narrowed down my college search to the following schools:
-Pitzer College
-Scripps College
-DU (university of Denver (private), $24k scholarship)
-Babson College (being interviewed for 1/4 tuition women’s scholarship)

I would like to double major in Econ and Environmental Analysis/studies/science (major has a different name depending on the school). As of now, my parents’ main concern is in regards to starting salaries and alumni networks. They think that if I go to Pitzer or Scripps, I won’t have the same opportunities I would have during and after college than I would at Babson. I absolutely love Claremont and really think that it’s the best place for me. Given my options, which school is best for what I want to do? Would my opportunities at Pitzer and Scripps be so diminished in comparison to Babson that I shouldn’t go even though I love them?

Hey there,

I’ve also had to decide between Babson, where I got a full scholarship, and Pitzer, where I got a good package but the scholarship did not cover all of the costs. I am also an Econ major and a current senior at Pitzer. I chose Pitzer for the sole reason of the 5 Claremont Colleges consortium. I was undeclared when I first started college, and I wanted to be in an environment where I had the opportunity to explore and take many interesting classes. Once I discovered my interest in Econ, I had the opportunity to take many interesting courses at the other colleges and here at Pitzer. I’ve taken Entrepreneurship classes at Harvey Mudd, Accounting and Finance courses at CMC, Organizational Psychology courses at Pitzer, and Econ courses at Scripps. I’ve been a bit too lazy to walk 20 minutes to Pomona to take a course there in the mornings. If you think you will excel at Babson, then you will definitely excel here at Pitzer as well.

The resources are here at Pitzer or at one of the neighboring schools. It is up to you to utilize them. I was offered a full time job through career fairs and events organized by CMC for accounting and finance. I also got myself an internship through CMC events last year as well. If you come here and decided that you want to go into Computer Science, then Harvey Mudd is literally around the corner for you to use their resources and career fairs. All 5C students are welcome to attend these events. Also, its Claremont and the school is in Southern California. Nothing beats the weather here! Good luck deciding between the colleges!
