Placement tests to place into higher-level classes?

If a student has already learned say Calc 3 or something independently, would Pitt allow him or her to take a test (maybe the class final?) to possibly allow the student to get credit for the class? Or at least skip past it to take a higher-level course?

I would make sure you have indeed mastered Calc 2 before moving on to Calc 3

You can ask your advisor about placement tests.

Grades
Your course grade will be determined as follows:
Two midterm exams 50% (25% each)
LON CAPA assignments 10%
Final exam 30%
Quizzes 10%

Some sections may deviate slightly from this recipe. Any deviations will be announced by your instructor at the beginning of the term.

Final Exam Policy
All day sections will take a departmental final exam at a time and place to be scheduled by the registrar.
Calculators will not be permitted on the departmental final exam.

Evening sections will meet through final exam week, and the final exam will be given during the last one or two scheduled class periods.

Final Grade Policy
Your final grade will not exceed your final exam grade by more than one letter grade.

Thanks! But I am a prospective student wondering if anyone on here has had experience with placing out of a class without AP/IB credit. Calc 3 was just an example.
