Places to Buy Christmas Trees in NYC

As some of you know, I recently moved to New York, and it’s my first year living completely on my own (no dorms, etc.). I have always wanted to get my own Christmas tree as soon as I had a place of my own. I really like big, tall ones (especially tall). I looked at some in Manhattan near where I live, and the prices are really high. I have an $80 budget (this is really the one thing that I truly want), but I have to buy a tree stand as well. I thought of going to Brooklyn, but I don’t know any places there. Is there some sort of a listing that has places that sell Christmas trees?

I really hope tomorrow is not too late to go and get one.

I don’t know anything about NYC, but in many parts of the country, if you wait until Christmas eve you can get a tree for 1/2 off. You might ask at one of your local places to see if that will be the case and then just wait.

We walked past a Christmas tree sales on the sidewalk when we were walking on Broadway up near the Lincoln Center. Did not look at the prices, though.

I recall tree places on Tenth Avenue in the 20’s…definitely West Side though; near the flower district…good luck!

I have had success with finding tree stands for a $1 at thrift shops in the past. I know (because my wife volunteers there), that my church thrift shop had 20 of them at the beginning of the month.

They may not be up to a mega tree - but then again you are probably not getting an enormous tree anyway.
