My dorm is at Landis Green.

I don’t remember any public parking spaces remotely nearby that area, so either it’s gonna be a long walk back-and-forth, or…

1) Do you know of any places to park near Landis Green
2) Can we park next to our dorms during move in

for the summer move-in, they were pretty lenient on the parking alongside the dorms.

Well, I hope they just ask us to move our car instead of ticketing us if it’s a problem

Landis is a dorm. Landis Green is the rectangular grassy area behind Landis.

There are actually parking spaces in front of Landis along University Way. There are some parallel parking spaces right in front and some angle parking spaces to the west. You can pull up fairly close, unload with your flashers on, and then move the car and park after you have unloaded. Just have someone there with keys just in case you need to move the car. There is also a small faculty lot across from Gilchrist (which is next to Landis) and you can park in faculty lots when school is not in session and after 5 weekdays and on weekends. There is also a parking garage not far from Landis. Landis is in a good spot for moving in. Just beware. You will see lots of folks park their car on grassy areas and leave them. And if you really leave them for hours, you may get a ticket. And if you think it is OK because there are alreay 10 cars lined up on the grass, you will see tickets on all ten. You can pull up cars close to unload, just move them to a legal parking spot once you are done unloading.

Lol Sunny I knew Landis green is the grassy area… I just didn’t want to disclose my particular dorm. Thanks for the info!

OK. Landis and Gilchrist have easy access. Broward is off the the side and a little trickier. But if it is one of the older renovated dorms, the good news is that they are small dorms, and not as many kids trying to move in at once. The entrances to Cawthown, Murphee, Reynolds are around the corner and I don’t know how congested it gets there at move in. Dorman is close. Given it is a high rise, it is waiting on an elevator that can hold things up a little.

To be honest, you will have no problems…unless there is pouring rain. In that case, just have patience, everyone else will be wet and hot and tired as well.

I know deviney is pretty darn close to landis as well, ill be moving in on the 19th (with half the other million students), and i was wondering, what’s my best parking spot to unload my stuff considering ill end up in tally around 3PM the latest, when im sure the majority of people have already started unloading?

We do it like this:

Park along the sidewalk near your dorm. Take cleaning supplies into the room and clean everything before you move your belongings inside. The room is supposedly “clean”, but it is almost never as clean as we want. Quickly offload from the car onto the sidewalk if you have to, then carry your stuff to your room. Have help with you to keep an eye on your belongings and your car. Take water and dress for the warm weather. Have cell phones as someone usually gets locked out of the dorm along the way.

I’d suggest arriving first thing in the AM as with the afternoon you risk thunderstorms and more heat.

The police are lenient during move-in and move-out.
