3) on cmu’s site, it says if you use ur card, u can call them to deactivate it. and then you can get a new one made. for which the price was $15 if i remember correctly.

someone please answer the other questions. AcceptedAlready, where are you? ;)

If you lose it and report it soon after, they cut off the account and transfer your balance to a new card. The best thing about the plaid cash is that you get certain discounts with it that you can’t get with cash. All of this info is in the big fat admission packet

My advice is to just use a debit/credit card (but some places on campus like coffee shops and food places don’t take them but that is what dinex is for).

The only thing I use plaidcash (formerly campus express, i guess?) for is buying drinks from vending machines on campus. Most of them have card readers so that you can pay from your plaidcash account.

My daughter uses it because sometimes she doesn’t have her wallet/purse with her but she always has her ID/room key/ plaid ca$h (it is all in one card). On the other hand she doesn’t use it a lot because as mentioned above she uses her dinex first. Maybe $100 total plaidca$h all year.
I do not like the way to put more money on the card - I have to actually mail a check to CMU. It would be easier to make deposits online via credit card.

There are actually a few machines on campus that allow you to put money on it directly with cash or credit. I think they just installed them this semester.
