Even long-time CC members probably have not been aware of Plainfield Teachers College, a gem that is often overlooked. While most of the universities that originated as colleges to prepare teachers have long since removed the “Teachers” part of their names, Plainfield Teachers is proud of its history, so it has kept the original name, though its mission has broadened quite a bit since its founding. They apparently have good athletics, also: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/16/sports/ncaafootball/the-41-season-at-plainfield-teachers-college-when-every-play-was-a-fake.html?_r=0
If you haven’t seen the New York Times article on Plainfield Teachers College, it is worth a look because it is quite funny. Apologies for in effect bumping my own post (
), but I don’t normally look at the sports section of the New York Times and would have missed this if it had not been for my spouse.
That was wonderful. Thanks for sharing it.
Very cute–one of the reasons I pay very little attention to the sports section.
I think CC needs to add Plainfield Teachers College to the Alphabetic List of Colleges!
Very funny! Thank you for sharing.
