Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and I need some advice to help my youngest child prepare for College. My child is taking honors/AP classes in HS. I am looking for advice on how to help prepare her for the SAT. My first child did well but she could have scored hirer and possibly gotten into a better school.

Can some of you Vets out there help me out? My youngest graduates HS in 2014.

Is your child currently a sophomore? She has plenty of time to prepare. I would suggest having her take the PSAT this October as a sophomore, then working from her results once they’re returned. My kids had a lot of success with self-prep - just doing a section or two each weekend in the “10 Real SATs” book, and doing the daily SAT problem which was sent to their email. The youngest eventually did one test under actual test conditions and was very pleased with her eventual result. Good luck!

It is 100% true that your kid can study on your own, but WILL she? Probably not.

If you pay the money for the course, and the kid actually goes to the building where they have the classes, then you know the kid is at least doing SOMETHING.

Also, have her take the test as many times as possible. With super-scoring, there is nothing to lose.

My son’s scores went up the second time with zero studying.
