Plan II Courses and Profs

Which courses and profs are highly recommended and which should be avoided? On Pickaprof, there isn’t a lot of info on some of the courses. There may be a lot of reviews on other courses these profs have taught, but it is difficult to know how those courses compare to the Plan II course. From pickaprof it sounds like Dever’s philosophy classes can be pretty brutal, but there isn’t much about the Plan II course. I am wondering if it’s about the same.

Cool you’re plan II too! Orientation is next week for me… I want to know this info too!

Well, I’m just a mom. My son has 2 finals at the CC on Monday, and we’re leaving for Austin as soon as he’s done. So I’m trying to print out some info on the profs so he can review them Monday night and decide what his top four choices are for the Plan II classes. Pickaprof does have something on all of the profs, just not always on the Plan II class that they teach. It could be that this is the first Plan II class that these particular profs have taught, or that Plan II students haven’t rated them, yet. At least it’s something to go on.

I would suggest getting your son to look through the orientation packet Plan II sent with the descriptions of all the Signature Courses and World Literature. I think the subject matter is a better indication of whether your son will like the class or not. And even if he doesn’t get into his top 4 choices, it’s not the end of the world. I’m pretty sure he will like/love any Plan II class he gets into.

As a side note, I had Bump for my World Lit class freshmen year and I still rave about it to this day. I also had Lee Walker for my TC (Signature Course). If you want to know more about either, feel free to PM me.

Thanks, I will do that. He’ll have time tomorrow night to look through it. I’ll also send you a pm.
