Plan II Honors/ LAH 2020

His plan II acceptance was postmarked January 21st, 2016. Good luck to all the others waiting!

Congrats to your son. Did he receive any prior email or does MyStatus reflect acceptance in the Honors tab yet? When was he accepted into UT?

thanks! No we did not receive any email and status not updated yet. He had received admission to UT math major from CNS mid November and that was on his My Status page.

my daughter class mate got a letter from Plan 2 as well. That makes 3 of them who got in to plan 2. He also got into BHP.

My DS received his LAH acceptance today in the mail. My Status also shows this acceptance. Plan II is still under review.

I got a Plan II acceptance in the mail today!
I applied like the day before the deadline, so there is still some hope for procrastinators like me hahaha

My Son just received his LAH acceptance letter today in the mail !! He is in-state, top 10%, applied in August and was admitted into his first choice Economics major on 1/14. Just now noticed it in MyStatus when I clicked the “detail” tab next to LAH. The “Honors” tab still just states that the applications are complete. I don’t expect he’ll get into Plan II but we are ecstatic for LAH. Good luck to everyone else whose waiting.

@TXDad56 @jondavidson47 @txstella What are y’alls locations?

In state, DFW.

@liberalguy97 same as TXDad56

My DS is instate (not auto admit but very high stats). He also an Econ major.

Wow, just checked MyStatus and I was accepted to Plan II today. Cockrell last week. OOS, did not receive an acceptance in the mail yet. Incredible. Again…wow!

No love from Plan II for me. :frowning:

I had my app complete before Oct. 15, and was admitted to my other (CLA) major in early November. So Plan II has had my app for all 3 waves so far. Nothing, nothing, and… nothing.

That’s 3 waves now that I’ve struck out on. Still one to go, but I’m not holding my breath, as it seems the only admissions still coming through are from applications just now arriving on Plan II’s desk.

I thought I had good essays, but I guess not. I focused their content on Plan II, and really put a lot of effort into showing my interest in Plan II. I guess they saw something they didn’t like, and threw it in the reject pile. Disappointing.

Extended resume was decent. Not OMG, but respectable, with both in-school and community ECs, interests, etc.

The only other thing I can think of was that I didn’t take a full load senior year due to a schedule conflict. My AP language conflicted with one of my EC classes, so I didn’t take the language. That left an open hour, with nothing good available to take. My counselor said he’d explain that on the school report, but who knows?

Beyond not getting to take the Plan II courses and hang with Plan II kids, this messes up my living plans. I was fixing to room in the honors quad with a buddy of mine in BHP. Now, I can’t get in there. Jester, here I come. :slight_smile:

Fair warning for those coming after me: I had a 36 ACT, 10+ AP classes, and a top 1% rank. Numbers won’t get you in, clearly.

@AndyDufresne It’s not over till it’s over - there will be a few more acceptances coming out between now and end of February most likely. Also, they take names off the waitlist, so even if you are not accepted outright there is always the possibility to get accepted through the waiting list.

@AndyDufresne

Honors quad is NOT for honors students only.

There are several colleges that don’t have any honors programs for freshmen at all. But they are represented in honors quad student population.

Also, some students actually drop from Honors programs because they don’t want to do thesis.
And job prospectives are usually the same and depend on your GPA and not being or not in honor program.

Being an honor student at your college and on Deans’ list due to GPA is more important, IMHO.

@collegefind : I appreciate the kind words. But I have to be realistic. Thanks to my auto-admit and my rapid admission to my other major, Plan II has had my app from Day 1. So far, they’ve found 300 or so apps they preferred over mine. Clearly, my app, even with the fairly decent numbers, was nowhere near as solid as I thought it was. :frowning:

Plan II doesn’t get the apps until the end of the line. Therefore, more apps are coming in to Plan II by the day, particularly those that were waiting for a decision on a non-CLA major application. And I strongly suspect THOSE are the only Plan II apps still receiving serious consideration. As @TXDad56 points out, “One other thing I did notice was that many that received LAH/Plan II in late January and February, also received their UT major acceptances shortly before, ie 1-2 weeks before.”

That’s NOT me. I had my acceptance months ago. So my gut says my Plan II app has long since been weighed and found wanting, and will not be revisited by anyone.

@AndyDufresne, I felt exactly the same way. I submitted my application before 10/15 and had zero communication until this week. Frustrating %&*@$#&#I. Hang in there, the biggest round is coming in Feb. You’re obviously smart and talented.

@AndyDufrense, note that I didn’t say “all”. C’mon Andy. Hang in there. Stay positive there’s plenty of slots/time left. They’re really doing holistic reviews on them all now. Stay positive, it can still happen for you.

Checked today online and was admitted to Plan II! LAH still pending.

@LikeThis, congrats! I knew you’d get in. Go for plan II!
