Pleas give me some suggestions

I am an Indian student seeking admission to a US university for my Undergraduation in Mechanical Engineering and fees is a concern , my overall budget including tution fees and stay on campus is at max 25000 US dollars

My Stats :-

Grade 9 - 89%

Grade 10 [ ICSE Board Exam ] - 89.14%

Grade 11 - 83%

Grade 12[CBSE Board Exam]- 88% (Physics-78,maths-95,chemistry-95)

SAT 1 - 1750
Maths - 760
CR - 500
CW - 490

I will not be giving the SAT 1 again and will be applying with these scores only

I have just given my SAT 2 and waiting for the results

I had “University of Michigan” as my dream University…MY MAIN QUERY IS THAT IS THERE ANY DIFFERNCE IN THE DEGREES PROVIDED BY UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN-ANN ARBOR AND OTHER UNIVERSITIES OF MICHIGAN LIKE DEARBORN AND FLINT

I KNOW MY SAT 1 SCORE IS TOO LOW TO GET INTO ANN AROR , BUT IF THE DEGREES ARE NOT DIFFERENT THEN I WOULD LOVE TO GO TO EITHER DEARBORN OR FLINT…

P.s.- “I am a robotic enthusiast , love to make arduino bots (have made a few by myself) so would love to carry to ROBOTICS in Future”

Are the degrees different? I’m not entirely sure what you mean by that, but the educations are quite different and yes, people will know that you didn’t go to the main campus. You’ll be in different classes with different students who are on the whole not as competitive as the University of Michigan’s main campus’s students. If you are asking whether the actual physical diplomas are different, the answer is yes; the diplomas say Flint or Dearborn on them. I also know a few people who went to branch campuses and they always specify that they went to a branch campus, both in speaking and on their resume.

Both are still good regional public universities, with average to above-average students who were generally in the top half (and a significant percentage in the top quarter) of their graduating high school classes and who scored in the low 500s to low 600s on their SATs. Dearborn seems to be slightly more selective than Flint.

Dearborn’s current tuition is $905/credit for up to 12 credits per semester and then an additional $170/credit for 13+ credits. If you take 15 credits per semester (30 per year), that’s a total cost of $22,740 per year in just tuition. That only leaves $2,260 in your budget for additional fees, housing, food, books, transportation, and other incidental and living expenses. Upper level classes in engineering cost more money (+$60/credit hour). As an international student you are unlikely to get financial aid or merit aid. So Dearborn doesn’t sound affordable for you.

UM-Flint is cheaper - $9,186/semester for up to 12 credits, with each additional credit being $95. For 15 credits a semester/30 credits a year, that’s $18,942 a year in tuition. That leaves over $6,042 for room, board, books, etc. I’m not sure if that is enough in Flint.

International students typically need outstanding grades or a talent that is highly desirable (artistic, athletic, etc.) or a duffel bag full of money, especially for schools at a U Michigan level. As you can see by @juillet’s post, even the regional public unis can be expensive.

If you go to Georgia State University, you’ll probably get some help and often times you can register for classes at Georgia Tech for engineering if need be

Thank you guys for your answers
