<p>It’s not a good idea to let random anonymous people read your essay. It’s better to ask your GC and/or English teacher to take a look at it.</p>
<p>Students have been known to get good help here from some of the wise, generous parents who offer to read essays. Before Pming your essay to anyone, check their back posts to make sure that they are a parent who appears to have good judgment.</p>
<p>I’m not one of those generous souls, but I wish you well with your applications.</p>
<p>English/ESL teacher/parent here. I’ve read quite a few CC student essays–I’ll give you an honest opinion. (BTW, this is a random act of kindness. I don’t save student essays or use them for any other purpose.)</p>

<p>As a general rule, adcoms have read many many essays on hardship and on overcoming hardship. The important thing is what your essay tells about how hardship has prepared you for future challenges and what you will bring to the college community. It’s not easy to pull off.</p>

My son’s English teacher returned his essay wayyyy later, without a single comment.</p>
