<p>NYU will not honor my high school extension credit for my local university so the only math I can take is my precalc, is this gonna affect my transfer chances at top schools like yale, cornell, etc.? as long as i have a high gpa, i am also considering taking a calc 1 class or a calc for the social sciences over xmas break i am also taking writing 1 econ 1 and a principles of lodging class (im a hotel management major) dont ask bad choice. i am determined to make it to yale, cornell etc. just please help me out. i am also taking a bio 1 class at a local university just to get a broader range of study is this all promising if i keep up a high gpa…i am studying for the sat, cus my act scores were less than stellar im sorry im rambling but im nervous and im trying to start off right. i know about giving nyu a chance but i really have had a bad taste, even been insulted by administrators. i also have an internship wih a marketing firmm all year…again im sorry for rambling but please help, i know this slim acceptance rates for all top schools but i need any advice i can get! thanks so much and please post!!!</p>

<p>It’s really difficult for us to answer your question. Are you planning to take Calc at NYU? What major are you targeting once you transfer?</p>
<p>You are correct: chances are slim at the schools you mention FOR EVERYBODY. It makes no sense to work yourself into a lather over transferring to such schools.</p>
<p>Make the most of NYU; forget whatever administrator insulted you. There are thousands of other people in that community. </p>
<p>Take courses that fit your intended major. Do well in them. Re-take the SAT/ACT if you want those tippy-top schools, because the scores will matter. And, if you end up not wanting to stay at NYU… here comes the most important point… find some other schools, less selective than Cornell and Yale, to apply to. Add in Cornell and Yale, and see where your acceptances come in.</p>
