Please burst my bubble: Chances at EA Yale?

I really think I killed my chances today! I know my SAT II scores are weak, so I was hoping to hit above 750 for the Physics SAT II and Spanish w/Listening. However, due to really bad cramming for Physics, I didn’t time myself right and rushed at the end, mis-bubble-ing (new word?) at least 6 questions. Therefore, I think I probably got a 700 or lower.

In short, I recanted my score reports for the new SAT II’s. Should I prepare my heart for the worst?

yes youre in. How do u get 4.0 unweighted… that means u had 100 in every class since like … freshman year… thats mad.

oh my gosh! Haha, no–not like that. Only in my dreams.

I’m not even sure what weighted means xD I just take the hardest courses I can in my school and get straight A’s…our school doesn’t do weighted versus non-weighted.

Ridiculously good SATs…
Applying for FA might hurt you, but you’re a lock for so many, many, many schools.

Bump.

Please help. I’m slightly freaking out…

FA…? Do you mean EA?

financial aid

Ah. That makes a lot more sense xD

Thanks! :D

Thanks for all the input so far (Sushant and NewEng)! :)

More opinions would be greatly appreciated ;D Also, don’t be afraid to be harsh. Rather know now rather than later.

It might be a slight reach, but all in all I think you have a very good chance. As long as your Physics score isn’t below the mid-600s, I don’t think it’ll hurt you to an extreme degree. As long as your essays and recs are really good, I think you’ll have a good shot. Good luck!

Reach part is understood >__<

Well, as of now, I’m not reporting it (at least not for EA). Don’t know if I should take the chance knowing that it might end up a 650, although I feel really good about the Spanish and can’t send that unless I send in both.

pockets away the luck Thanks!

go asian females! lol

i can’t quite assess your chances by like % or something, but i’d say you’re competitive ;)

high five! xD I love the fact that I can walk around UPenn and look like every other girl on campus.

wow, really? after reading others’ profiles, I see nothing that makes me stand out. But thank you :3

Bump.

I really want feedback on the SAT II scores. Are the 3 I have right now good enough?

I was looking at the score conversion for Spanish and I think I got at least a 760 (hopefully more of a 790). For Physics…anywhere from 680-750. Should I still report them…?

There is no doubt that you’re well qualified for Yale.

At a Q&A session with admissions officers from some of the top schools, I was told that just by the numbers (GPA, SAT’s etc), 85% of the applicants match/exceed the academic requirements. However, only about 30% of students in that 85% catagory make it in.

The fact that you’re applying early decision is definetely helpful. While your numbers are truly top tier, remember the essay/recommendation part of the application process. If you have an excellent essay and very convincing teacher recs, you’re in. I don’t mean to come across as offensive or anything but of the Yale EA applications I bet I could find a few that are EXACTLY like yours. You need to work especially hard on those essays to differentiate yourself from all other similar applications.

Overall, your chances at Yale EA: High Match. You have everything they’re asking for, but that isn’t always enough sadly =/ I would be more surprised if you didn’t get in than if you did get in. Best of luck to you.

No, I’m not offended at all. Know exactly what you mean. Thank you for being honest and comprehensive. Helps me relax a lot actually! :)

I am sending in a fine art portfolio, and was hoping that’d be my hook. But I don’t even know if it has been recieved yet…

Thanks for the feedback!
