I just got deferred from Yale, but I’m still optimistic!!!
GPA: 99.547(w)
Rank: 5/321
ACT: 29 (Second highest score in my graduating class)
I’m also Secretary of NHS, a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, Awareness Leader of Youth Advisory Committee, an active member of PETA 2’s Street Team, a URM, and economically disadvantaged.
My letters of recommendation are sure to be amazing!
So please, chance me!

My guess is that you - and so many like you - need to be sure and have an application that doesn’t sound like you’re a “HYP deferee”. Cornell gets LOTS of those and is well aware. Be sincere, be thorough, be thoughtful. They will be able to figure out that they are not your first choice if you don’t. If you want Cornell JUST because it’s an IVY - they will know.

Bump, bump

the act might be a little bit on the low side, but being hispanic (and a scholar? =]) probably will more than cancel that out.

my school uses a 4.0 gpa scale, so i can’t speak for your gpa. cornell loves high gpas btw. like, more than other schools relatively

i think you have a solid chance, in conclusion
