Hi CollegeConfidential. I’m a senior in Ohio. I’m interested in computer science but want to double major with political science or perhaps PPE.

I go to one of the best public high schools in my state. It is ranked in the mid 200s for best schools in the U.S.

I am white with affluent parents (won’t be getting financial aid), both of whom have graduate and pHD degrees. Both my parents went to UofM and my step-dad went to Haverford and Hopkins.

My stats:

Class rank: My school doesn’t rank us; however, I am one of the top students in my grade.

WGPA: 4.3 set to be 4.4+ before graduation

UGPA Unweighted: 3.97+

SAT: 1480 (710 RW, 770M)

ACT: 34 (34 Math, 34 Science, 32 Grammar, 35 Reading)

SatBioM: 770

SatChem: 790

APBio: 5

APChem: 5

APGov: 4

APStats: 5

APCompSciP: (Taking)

APCalcAB: (Taking)

AP Euro: (Taking)

APFrench: (Taking)

I also took a (basic) computer programming course at a local college and got an A sophomore year.

I have been complimented on my essays by teachers and my counselor. The teachers I’m asking for LOR from all love me.

ECs:

  1. Moderator for large tech community over 270,000 members. Do significant work with this. I work directly with major companies to coordinate weekly events including giveaways and AMAs. A few of the people I've worked with are ranked as some of the most influential people in Silicon Valley. (700+ hrs)
  2. Member and treasurer of my Local city's Youth Council. We do a ton of volunteer work and other various things.
  3. Cross Country (Varsity)
  4. Track and Field (Varsity)
  5. Squash (Club)
  6. Working for School Tech Department over this summer. (30 hrs / week)
  7. Setting up wiring/electronics in home and several local businesses
  8. Involved with the production of a local school poetry competition (Sophomore, Junior, and hopefully Senior years)
  9. GSA member
  10. Found and responsibly disclosed vulnerabilities in several websites. Got cash rewards.
  11. Helped to organize March for Our Lives marches in my school and city. With the previously mentioned Youth Council, we met with the regional public transportation company to offer free transportation for youth to and from the march.

Hooks:

  1. Am Autistic. Overcame said adversity through a ton of work and with the help of some great teachers. No one would guess that I am Autistic today.
  2. Had a unique circumstance during a college visit. Cannot reveal here as it would reveal my identity.

Awards:

I have won school-based awards that are given to the best student in each class. I have the following:

  1. Geometry (Freshman)
  2. Algebra II (Sophomore)
  3. English (Sophomore)
  4. AP Gov (Junior)
  5. Student of the Month (Sophomore year)
  6. AP Scholar with Honors
  7. High Honor Roll (throughout highschool)

Misc:

  1. Ran half-marathon in good time (1:27:00).
  2. Various volunteer work (Outside of Youth Council)
  3. Various XC awards

Also, my school has Juniors create a comprehensive magazine-based project on an important issue of our choice. The project is substantial (35,000 words, professional quality). My topic is on internet freedom and security. How can I leverage this in the admissions process?

Anyone?

You are a competitive applicant. You might increase your chances if you check the box that says you are open to being a Feb admit.

Your chances are extremely good ED at Midd (or most of the rest). Not a lock, but extremely good.
