Please chance me for Virginia Tech - [3.4 UW, business]

What’s your budget ?

$95k a year? $50k? $20k ?

Once you have a test score come back because it will matter. Some OOS schools will cost less than in state -

Again you’re a bit premature to ask without a test score and budget.

Are you only seeking large schools ?

I agree budget is super important. But since JMU is in state it is likely to be one of your more affordable options. I think your stats give you a good shot and I would definitely recommend applying there. I also think you should apply to Virginia Tech. Maybe it’s a reach but I think you have a shot at it and you should still apply. GMU would be a safety school and also in state tuition.

I would hesitate to recommend private or out of state schools without some sense of budget. There are definitely a lot of schools that you have a good shot at getting into with your GPA, regardless of test score. But it really comes down to budget.

What part of the state are you from? I’m from an unrepresented area of the state and that GPA would not be a reach, especially for a first gen. Not a given, but not a reach either. Virginia Tech I believe is trying to support first generation students, so I would definitely apply.

JMU is also a good suggestion. What about George Mason? Our first gen students also like VCU/ODU but I don’t know a lot of their business programs.
