Hi, I am a current high school senior, out of state, and I applied to Berkeley in November, I would appreciate it if I could get an opinion on my chances, thank you. Berkeley requested a letter of rec, if thats relevant, I heard that “maybe” applicant get this if their EC’s are good but their SAT not so much, but that doesn’t really apply to me?
Demographic : asian, male, higher- middle class, both parents are college-educated, attend a competitive public school (top three in state)
Intended major- Computer Science
Academics- I have taken one-two electives on the career tech track at my school, the rest are honors and AP. I will finish with 14 AP classes by the graduation, i have not gotten lower than a 3 on any of the AP tests. My UC weighted gpa calculated would be around 4.30 I have also taken college courses this year (linear algebra and multivariable calculus, because I was able to get a 5 on the AP calc BC exam)

EC’s- volunteer hours are around 800-1000, I have done a lot of volunteering events such as river and house cleanups as well as tutoring over the years through a local organization that works throughout the city and the state. I started a 501©(3) nonprofit with a friend that raises and donates money to foreign and local charities that are underprivileged. I am in national honors society at my school as well as english national honors society, participated at a Duketip camp at Duke university during one summer for a number theory class. I am also in Science Olympiad, in which I coach also, and I have won several state place medals, including two firsts, unfortunately the team has never made it past 5th in state. I started the history bowl/bee club at my school and I am also the president of it. I have done some paid tutoring as a side job for calculus. I have won AP scholar with distinction also.
In addition to those, I have lettered in varsity soccer 2/3 times, and actually started on the team that went to the state championship last year in the highest division in the state. Besides school soccer I also play travel club soccer and have competed at a high level for most of my life, and this is a huge commitment by itself.
My leadership position are peppered out throughout the EC’s above.
