Essay: I’m working hard on this essay. I have a very strong trained professional that will help me edit my essay.

Interview: IDK, I’m actually worried about this…

Colleges that I’m interested in are Johns Hopkins, UPENN, NYU STERN, Cornell, and of course Northwestern
(Please Chance!!)

Majors: Finance, Business, economics, International relations and business.

Also, which should I ED at?

THANK YOU!!!

You will be a very competitive applicant at all of these schools. As to where to apply ED, that’s simple: to the school you would pick if you got into all of them RD in April.
For my money, I would go with either Penn or NU (my daughter made a similar choice, with Wash U in the mix too, and went for NU), but that is very subjective. It’s about which school excites you the most. Have you visited them all?

Wait NU doesn’t have those majors fro undergrad except economics.

TY for all your responses, I visited Penn, NU, and Stern. I’ll visit Cornell and Johns Hopkins later. cdz512, thx for pointing that out.

I think NU and Stern excites me the most especially NU Kellogg certificate program and Stern’s international study abroad program.

Everyone keeps bashing me about having a Pro edit my essay, is that bad?

It can really make your essay look unoriginal. It looks “fake”.

I do not favor having a professional college consultant edit your essay. First, I believe these people are parasites who prey on the anxieties of ambitious high school students and their parents. Second, as cdz512 says, it can make your essay look fake. Remember that the adcoms want to hear YOUR voice, unvarnished and imperfect though it may be, not the consultant’s. While I certainly recommend having a teacher and/or parent (if your parents are good writers) review your essay and correct any errors in grammar or spelling, I don’t think you need the “edit” from a paid professional.
As for what majors NU offers, its econ department is excellent. Moreover, as you note, Kellogg has a finance certificate program that is more impressive than anything you’ll get outside of Wharton (Stern included), and it also has a minor in business institutions (but be aware that it is not a hard core finance minor at all).
If NU and Stern excite you the most, I would recommend that you apply ED to NU. First, I think it is academically superior (and remember that you will/should also be taking lots of non-business “liberal arts” courses, where NU is far more respected than NYU). Second, going to school in the middle of Manhattan might seem cool for a little while, but don’t forget that NYU has no real campus, so you lose the atmosphere that is so fundamental to the college experience. You only get to go to college once in your life, for four years that will go by in a flash, so why would you want to give that up when you’ll have the rest of your life to live in the middle of Manhattan if you want to?
Good luck!

Thank you so much for all you posts!!! WCASPARENT thanks for the feed back, I’ll make sure my voice is heard!
