My parents agreed to provide of up to 25K for CoA. Parents income: ~140k adjusted gross for 2017.
I did npc for most of the schools I applied and realized I need to borrow loan to offset the differences.

1- Please chance me for the school I applied to.
2- I am very hesitate to take out loan - Do I have any other options?

Thank you all in advance.

Large state university honors colleges tend to award a lot of merit scholarship money.

@Publisher. Thank you. Agreed, I got 4K award from SBU so the CoA for SBU is ~20k. SBU is a very good school for students with pre-med/pre-den intention. l just not very impressed with the campus and student life at SBU.

Also, if willing to go to school in the South, the University of Alabama Honors College may award you a very substantial scholarship. Alabama has only 40% from in-state; 60% of the students come from other states. Beautiful campus & great weather. University of South Carolina is another school to consider.

As a male applicant, your chances from among your private school choices will be statistically highest at Vassar. In any case, I think you’ll receive an offer from one or more schools from this group.

Regarding borrowing for a quality college education, within reason, I think it makes sense.

@Publisher: Thanks for the suggestions. I did some research for the recommended schools, scholarship offers based on my stats, are equivalent to paying in state tuition there. I think go to state flagship schools in NY with in state tuition is a slightly better choice.

@merc81: I hope to receive a few more offers too. I see what you mean regarding borrowing for a good cause. However, I probably set my limit to Fed’s loan only.

Oh yeah, that’s what I meant by “within reason,” @2S2023. I hope you keep us posted on any developments. Best of luck to you!

You can always work to help out with the cost.

Definitely. I’ll look forward to participate in school work-study program if I am eligible.
