Already got into Rutgers with $, Drexel Honors with $ and Penn State.

What are his test score?

It’s hard to chance without scores.

ACT: 30 (35 english, 31 math, 30 science and 25 reading)
SAT I Math: 730
SATII Math: 740
Chemistry : 660

Rutgers, Drexel, UConn, Syracuse, U of Miami, Virginia Tech, Penn State, UofM, Wake Forest, UNC, Boston College, Villanova and Georgetown.

UNC…probably not
Georgetown…maybe
BC…maybe

Every place else…probably in.

Are you instate for Rutgers?

If so, don’t expect much (if any) money from UConn, UMich, Penn St, or VT.

Which schools are financial safety schools? (schools that you know for sure that you have funding for.)

Georgetown would be a reach with that ACT reading score…I could be completely wrong. UMich as well, since Umich’s business department is pretty well ranked, at least in the graduate level. I don’t know about Wake Forest either…

I agree with the other schools.

Georgetown is unpredictable. I’d say a good chance he’ll get waitlisted at GU with his stats/resume. It’s been a couple of years but my daughter got waitlisted there with a 3.87 UN-weighted GPA, 9 AP classes (varies by school), and a higher SAT score, also applied as a business major. Ended up at BC. His weigthted GPA may also be “borderline” for Boston College and UMichigan (OOS) as well. It would be helpful to know his class rank or decile (top 10%, top 20%, etc.).

What’s his UNweighted GPA?

If it’s hovering at 3/3.1 and the 25 English make most of these a reach, with the exception of drexel.

The weighted gpa is a meaningless statistic and largely ignored by colleges in favor of their own calculation.

If you want some realistic responses, you need to spit out the stats.

In for sure everywhere but Wake, GTown and BC.
BC is a maybe, Wake is likely a reach and GTown is impossible to predict.

Is your son hooked? Recruited for sports? If not, forget about getting into UNC and Gtown and UofM. My son applied to Gtown last year, 4.55 gpa/2280 (plus 800 + 780 + 750)/8 APs, numerous national science and debate awards/ theatre and EIC and was rejected. I’m guessing he’ll be WL for BC, Wake, and Villanova.

My S was also rejected for Gtown with an A- unweighted average, 2300+ SAT, SATIIs 780+760+730, 8 APs (almost all 5s), national and state awards, 3-season varsity athlete, etc, etc. His essay on the subject of religion as mind control might have had something to do with it! I have certainly heard of kids with lesser stats getting in. Nevertheless, I agree that it is unpredictable.

I’ll bow to others’ expertise on UNC, BC, and U of M (OOS?). The rest seem like good bets.

I sorta agree with Overachiever’sMom and Consolation and others. I think the ACT reading score will make many of these schools a reach. It is a shame - he could be a great fit and could do very well at Georgetown. Georgetown is pretty selective and pretty much a tossup. On the other hand, he could get in as well. Is it too late to retake ACT? Haven’t kept in touch with dates and all, don’t know…
