Anyone care to predict the vote?

Also, can someone explain why all of Ireland was once part of the UK but now only Northern Ireland. It appears the change occurred in 1922, but I really don’t know why.

Ireland was effectively annexed and taken over several hundred years ago.

It was one of England/GB’s first colonial possessions and the Protestant dominant British had no compunctions about subjugating the mostly Catholic Irish.

As for the splitting of N. Ireland from the rest of Ireland, that was done due to some compromise where the Republic of Ireland got its independence while the Protestant descendants of those who invaded Ireland centuries ago got to keep some of the Northern provinces. A factor in why there has been much added conflict, angst, and violence between the Protestants and Catholics beyond what already transpired due to the occupier/occupied dynamic between the two groups.

My facebook newsfeed is dominated by vote no / vote yes articles. Interesting that the pound has dropped value with the rise of the yes % in the polls.

razorsharp, there were multiple rebellions over the centuries, and eventually an uprising followed by a civil war having to do with whether to accept partition. I suggest Wikipedia.
