Please gauge my chances

I’m currently a senior in high school (class of 2012). Here are some of my stats:

4.0 GPA (unweighted, as many honors classes available to me including a few AP’s)

Ranked 2nd out of approx. 300-350 students

Took the ACT twice (27 and 29 composites) that come out to a 30 composite if superscored (does Northwestern superscore?)

Several extracurriculars including leadership positions (tennis team captain, NHS president, Interact secretary, 1st chair in band), also a part-time job

I really do appreciate your thoughts and/or suggestions. Thanks!

Just curious, before we all answer – what to you think our chances are? Strengths, Weakensses?

My strengths are my GPA (along with the classes I took) and EC’s (especially with the leadership positions; the variety is definitely a plus). A weakness of mine is my ACT score. I scored better the second time around, so I will take it again. But does anyone know if Northwestern superscores? And also, is it a must that I increase my score?

For NU (2009-10, the last data available) – a 31 on the ACT is about the 25th Percentile, while a 33 would be the 75th Percentile. Obviously, 1/4 of the admitted students are in the 25th percentile or lower, so, acceptance is possible, given your grades. However, even a 30 is below the 25th percentile, so I don’t think you can be confident with those scores.

If possible, bring the scores up.

FWIW, I’ve seen NU on lists of schools that do superscore the ACT (see link below), but you should probably call them and ask.
