Please Give Me Transfer Advice

I’m in my last semester in community college & the only school that I applied to was Cal Poly Pomona for Hospitality Management because I currently work in HOA management. However, I was previously aiming to go to school at UCLA for Linguistics & Computer Science. I’m starting to doubt whether hospitality management is really for me.

Somethings about me…
GPA: 3.5
Age: 25 going 26
ECC: More than 5 years full time experience in the Korean community. 2 years in HOA industry, 3 years in Korean banking.

Another reason why I’m apprehensive about going to CPP is because my full time job is located 2 hours+ away from the school meaning I will probably have to quit my job for the school. I’m debating taking a year break and applying to UCLA albeit my not so competitive GPA.

But I’m getting older. I’m not sure if I should just get college over with already or should I take the chance and apply to UCLA next year?

What will you do during that year?

Are there still other schools you can apply to?
I would say don’t put your eggs all in one basket.
If you can afford to hold off, I would do that. You want to be happy with your decision.

Make a list of all the schools within commuting distance of the job you don’t want to quit. Investigate the linguistics and computer science programs at all of them. UCLA is a competitive school so you will need back up plans.

Do you have the prerequisites to transfer into a computer science program? If not, you may need to delay your transfer to get those done.

Don’t worry about the age issue. You need a commuting distance program that will let you keep your job OR a program in a location that your company can transfer you to. You probably also need a program that is relatively easy to complete part-time in case your job picks up for some reason.
