I’m a sophomore and I would love to attend SSP for astrophysics. I have all the prerequisites (I took AP Calculus BC last year and I’m taking IB Physics this year). I have a 4.0 GPA (unweighted), but by the end of 10th grade I will have only taken 4 AP classes, and not the SAT/ACT yet. I know there are juniors who are applying who are much more advanced. I don’t have any research experience but I’m pretty good at (and really enjoy) math and physics. I just don’t have the awards to back it up yet.
Does anyone know how I can stand out in my application?
Hi, I’m not sure if you’re still applying. I think SSP might only be accepting juniors this year, but if you plan on applying in the future focus on essays.
I was in a similar situation to you last year, with no research experience. I also didn’t mention any STEM-related extracurriculars or awards in my application. Showcase your passion for STEM and be authentic in your responses.
