<p>Essay 3: Do closed doors make us creative? </p>
<p>In the path of the human history, humans have come up with many brilliant and innovative inventions which make our lives more convenient and easier. Certainly these inventions did not just come to us one day; they are the fruits of creative thinking and trials and errors. But, if there were no obstacles in the human history, would we be able to use our creativity and invent such great things? I say no; obstacles are stimulus that derives us to use our brain, our creativity, and without the obstacles we will not be as creative as we are now.</p>
<p>Human history has been the process of overcoming obstacles, such as many social problems and diseases. Yet, today we still face new obstacles that require innovative ways to overcome. In the process of solving new issues we first analyze the problem and come up with many possible approaches to tackle the problem. This is the part in which our creativity is used. We are facing new obstacles every day and to solve the problem properly we often have to come up with new strategies using our creativity.</p>
<p>Consider case of the bendable straws. We now use bendable straws for granted, but it was also the product of one’s creativity. A mother in Japan had a son who had a serious disease and could not even sit up in the bed. Feeding him was the obstacle the mother had to face every day. As a result, she used her creativity to come up with the idea of bendable straw. Without the obstacles, without her son lying on the bed, she would not have used her creativity and we would still be using straight and unbendable straws.
In conclusion, obstacles stimulate us to use our creativity. In the process of overcoming the obstacle, we come up with new and innovative ideas to tackle the problem. Without any obstacles, we would not be as creative as we are now.</p>
