Do people put too much importance on getting every detail right on a project or task?

People, who always focus on perfectness and always want to get everything completed the way they always wanted, wont reach any progress but instead, when the first step becomes hard to achieve it, they become more devastated and fall in the walls of despair and frustration. However, simple people who care for the sake of their communities and their families will achieve success even it isnt completed; examples from literature and world history demonstrate my idea.

In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, The protagonist, Winston takes the responsibility to challenge the oppressive government under which he and his fellow citizens live. Winston does not, as most people do, sit idly by and watch the government tramples peoples rights .He takes The path less traveled by and attempts to expose the deceptive nature of the government. Later in the story, he forms a new government although it isnt successful completely but it preserves peoples rights and lets them have a happy prosper life. Here, Winston didnt focus completely on how to make a perfect government, all he wanted was a justifiable one.

Or take the battle of Thermopylae in the second Persian invasion of Greece. One side led by Leonidas, the Spartan king and his allied tribes, on the other hand Xerxes of Persia. The former had an army of no more than 8000 troops while the latter had 250,000 troops. And yet, for 2 days, Xerxes was unable to penetrate Leonidas attempt to stop him from going any further into Greece. one reason for this way simple: The Spartans didnt care how many their enemies are, didnt care for such precise details, all they cared about was how to stop Persia from invading Greece. Those Spartans were extremely used to hardships and adversities; Spartan boys were made to join the army at the age of 7 and be as active as possible- Spartan men were severely punished for just throwing their shield away and even when a young Spartan returned back to his mother after fleeing battle, she whipped him and made him run up and down the streets yelling his inferiority. This tough society bred 300 Spartans who fought at Thermopylae. They and about 400 allies decided to stand in a heroic last stand. While other retreated, they stood fearless accomplishing their task; therefore Xeroxes army was reduced by about 10,000. Spartans didnt care for a perfect and precise success, all they wanted was to kill as many enemies as they could and they killed most of them by their courage and their persistence. They did this to achieve success even if it isnt completed until the end.

In the end, we all have goals to reach out for but we shouldnt focus completely on how to make them perfect, we should focus on how to accomplish them .
