so I’m planning on applying to northwestern,
and as part of my resume I’m trying to go for the
national honor AP award, (where you take 8 ap tests
and receive 4 or above on average)

and currently I have the following AP tests taken:

Biology
Calculus
European History
Chemistry
Spanish
Environmental Science
Macro Economics
Micro Economics
Physics B

The top first four, I took my sophomore year
and I know my scores are 5 for biology,
5 for calculus, 4 for European history, but
3 on chemistry.
The last five AP tests I took this year
so my scores have not come in yet, but I’m pretty
confident on the scores.

As of now I have the above nine ap tests,
so it’s already above the required eight, but my
question is, should I cancel my ap chemistry score?
is the 3 too low? I it better to have 8 scores of mostly
5s and some 4s, or 9 scores with my 3 in ap chemistry?

So the rule is an average of 4 or above out of all of your scores?

Just do the math. If you were to get three 4s, a 5, and a 3 in your batch from this year, you’d still have a 4.1 average. If you’re super paranoid, cancel the 3…but there’s no ‘better’ really if you’re confident in your scores, it’s just some math. Having 9 won’t get the award any ‘better’ than having 8 as long as the average stays above. Are you relatively sure you got at least a 4 on all those you took this year?

National AP Scholar

Granted to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.

So you’re screwed.

alright, thanks Perididdle. I guess either way will be fine.

and no, NYandere, because despite my 3 in chem I’ll still (probably) have 8 4 or highers,
since chem is my 9th. thanks for the input, however.

Does anyone know how the admission process work for a music major? If you are really awesome at your instrument, does this help your chances of being admitted to the University?
