I was accepted to several very highly acclaimed schools but turned all of them down because of their over $50,000 a year tuition. The school I’ve decided on has a much lower and affordable price tag and tons of scholarships to boot. However, they admit 80%, their average GPA and ACT score is a 3.4 and 23 respectively. My GPA was a 3.9 and my ACT is a 33. I know they’re just numbers, but still, I’m worried that I won’t be challenged. I’ve thought about transferring after getting my generals done, but will doing work at this college put me at a disadvantage? I’m already committed, so how do I get the most out of the school? Does education level vary tremendously from college to college?
So many people on CC will tell you that it is what you do at college, not where you go to college that matters. I agree.
Especially with the current financial status of the US, I believe that employers will be much less likely to be school status snobs as they hire. And you will have a huge advantage over students that will be graduating with $200,000 dollars in debt.
If you don’t like the school, or feel that you would have a significant advantage at another school, transfer after one or two years. But make sure it makes sense financially.
I chose an affordable state university over more selective and expensive choices. I have been impressed with the availability of rigorous courses.
If you seek out challenge, I don’t think that will be a problem.
I think you made the right decision. If you don’t like the school then transfer after a couple of years.
Thank you all so much! I know I did what I had to do, but I’m the kind of person who keeps worrying about decisions even after they’re made. Thanks again
