PLEASE Help Friend: SW or Case Mgrs- VA Beach- Medicaid

<p>My friend at work (we’re in NY) has a daughter living in Virginia Beach. She is 21. No insurance. Not in school. Troubled kid who has recently developed a chronic health condition. She has no money, likely no job, no insurance. </p>

<p>My friend is in a tight economic situation herself… split with spouse. He’s been unemployed. House went into foreclosure. She is now renting. Resistively continues to help her daughter out financially, when needed. Now she needs serious and continuous meds. and my friend does not have the cash flow… (She gives her money, but it is taken away from something else it was earmarked for.)</p>

<p>This girl needs to be on Medicaid to get healthcare and prescriptions, etc. </p>

<p>Anyone know where she should go to file an application. Likely needs a case manager to walk her through as she is likely to blow it off. I googled and got Va Beach Dept of Human Services and a number for VA medicaid. </p>

<p>Also, is there a place to get healthcare or a center that takes medicaid locally?</p>

<p>My friend is overwhelmed with constant problems with her daughter… and now the healthcare issue on top of it. Daughter is irresponsible to do any of this herself. </p>

<p>When we needed to help someone hundreds of miles away, we hired a social worker to walk him through the process. In the end, we only paid for two hours. I would suggest your friend google social workers in the Virginia Beach area and call them.</p>
