<p>i was deferred from university of illinois business. i have a 3.6 uw gpa and 3.85 w gpa. top 17% with 31 act. brother and 5 cousin went or currently go to the university. essays were good and ec’s were average.</p>

<p>Urbana-Champaigne, I take it. This is a tough call. Your ACT score is at the 75th percentile for accepted Freshmen university wide and nearly at the 75th percentile for accepted Freshmen at the B school. Your class rank, though, is well outside the 25th to 75th class rank percentile range (91% to 98%) of accepted Freshman at the B school. That probably explains why you were deferred. Never-the-less, you’ve certainly got the goods to do well there, your GPA is strong, and they’re obviously hesitant to reject a kid with a 31 ACT. I’d say you’ve got about a 60% chance of being accepted.</p>

<p>If you don’t get in, apply for the summer term, or next spring, in some obscure major like Indo-European Languages, matriculate, then transfer to business.</p>

<p>You have a good chance to get in off the wait-list. However, apply to the generic liberal arts portion of UIUC and just transfer in to the B-school later on if you can.</p>
