Please Help Me Create My Freshman Course Schedule

Hi guys! I will be attending Missouri Southern State University, a small public university in my hometown. It was last on my list, but my mom made the decision. Tufts University is my dream college, but I didn’t apply because my mom thought the application fee was a waste of money.

After the first year, I would like to transfer either there or Mizzou. Therefore, I need to make sure that I’m not just taking “easy” courses.

To take Calculus and Analytical Geometry I, one must have a Math ACT score of 27 or higher (I only got a 24) or take Algebra and Trigonometry first. I wish I could Calculus because I just took pre-calculus.

Because I plan to major in business, I was going to take finite mathematics. But at Mizzou, college algebra is a requirement to graduate. Obviously, if I don’t get into Tufts (and I don’t think it’s very likely), I will transfer to Mizzou.

I took the AP psychology and the AP Literature and Composition exams. I hope I get a 4 on both, but MSSU accepts a 3. If I don’t get a 4 on the AP Literature and Composition exam, I’ll take Advanced College Composition. I’m also going to take Principles of Biology I and Govt: US, State, and Local. I will not take a fine arts course.

Here are the courses at Missouri Southern State University that I can take which will satisfy its general education requirements.

Thanks for your help! Tufts is ultimately where I want to end up, so I just want to challenge myself.

Anyone? Bump…

Figure out your major (or transfer) requirements. Prioritize those. Do any of those courses have pre-reqs? If they do, prioritize those.

Look at your list of requirements and pick classes that sound interesting to you. Try and take things from different subject areas, it’ll give you a more balanced schedule.

Aim for about 15 credits, or whatever your school’s standard unit/semester count is.

We don’t know you, your interests, your goal, or your classes. You need to do some research and figure out your schedule, we can’t do it for you.

You know you can talk to an advisor at your college, right? You don’t have to have officially started. In fact, it’s normal to need to schedule your first-ever classes with help.

Yes, I know I can talk with an advisor, but I wanted to get some opinions of how challenging my schedule will be. I’ve decided to take Government, International Relations, College Algebra, Biology with an Environmental Health emphasis, and Advanced College Composition.
