Please help me. Is this possible?

Is it possible to self-stufy AB and BC? Throughout my 3 years of HS so far, I will have taken Math A and Math B (basically geometry, algebra, and trig). I can’t really fit ANY math class in my senior year schedule due to some requirements I have to take to graduage. Has anyone done this before?..studying AB and BC, then taking the BC exam in May? I have Stewart’s Single Variable Calculus book. What other books are good to gear me towards BC level questions?

Why don’t you try taking the classes that you need for graduation during the summer, night school or online and take AP CAl AB during the year. All depends how strong your math skills are. It might be a good idea to talk to the AP Cal of your school to find more information.

I tried talking to my guidance counselor, and she told me its already too late to sign up for any of those classes. I just got my senior schedule last week and that was too late already. My math skills are definately really strong as I am the best my school has.

I suggest getting some study guides with plenty of sample tests. The key to self-study is to do loads and loads of problems. Cliff’s AP calc is good as well as princeton review.

I didn’t use Stewart’s single variable book, but I used Stewart’s multivariable calc book in college and it was very nice.

I self studied calc BC in HS and while it’s a lot of work it’s possible. I would recommend coming to an agreement with a teacher skilled in calculus who can answer questions and explain concepts to you when you need it. Not necessarily a lot - just to be avaliable for quick 10-15 minute questions every few days or so.
