I’m an international student going to study in a community college in Seattle and will transfer to a 4-year college after 2 years. Here are my list of schools:

I know that most of the schools accept transfer students as freshmen, which means that I’ll have to start all over again. I certainly do not want to spend extra money and time, so I wonder if there’s a chance that I can be accpeted as a Y2/Y3 student?Would schools with 4+2 programs make it easier? Hopefully my advisor can help me sort the matter out! BTW, which of the above schools are most suitable for me?

unfortunately, a lot of architecture schools do not allow for an easy transfer, ie you transferring in and automatically becoming a second or third year. most likely, you will have to start over, simply because you need to learn how the school wants you to think about architecture and they want to teach you their techniques.

that being said…its hard to say which school is most suitable for you without seeing any stats or other information about yourself.

hey, I have the same problem with you. I’m an international student in CC and I really want to transfer to Cal Poly. Is it possible if I become junior / sophomore in there?

Most schools will allow you to transfer everything but the studio, and studio support classes. So if you go to a school with a four year program that does not begin the studio sequence till sophomore year, then you have a chance to get Y2 standing. BArch programs typically start the studio sequence in the freshman year so there is not much chance for advanced standing. Each school is going to be a little different.
